During summer 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic we learned from Tompong, Symon’s trusted aide, that Symon has sadly passed away on April 15, 2020.

This was a very sad moment indeed. Not only was Symon a gifted and incredibly creative artist, but also an amazing person and a very good friend. While living in Asia, we have visited Symon countless times at his Campuhan gallery and after its closure in his “palace” at Ala Sari in the North of Bali.

His paintings and prints are fully of energy and vibrant colours. A big fan of his “Big Heads” I could spend hours moving around in his gallery and admire the numerous artworks randomly scattered in this paradise.

We will remember the many hours of discussions, disputes, negotiations and laughter together. The many artworks of Symon, scattered all across our apartment will remind us of this great artist forever!
