We are happy to introduce Riduan as our latest addition to our list of artist-friends, we now carry in our gallery.
Born in 1976 in Bukit Lama, Palembang, Riduan is a dynamic force in contemporary Indonesian art. A graduate of the prestigious Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) in Yogyakarta, he was shaped in the vibrant cultural heart of Java, where tradition and urban energy collide. This tension pulses through his work.
Riduan paints in a compelling realist expressionist style, wielding a palette knife and brushed to carve sharp lines and rich textures into acrylic on canvas. His cityscapes shimmer with rain-soaked reflections, fractured light, and the restless rhythm of modern streets. At the same time, his poetic landscapes reveal a deep connection to nature.
Once drawn to abstract impressionism, he gradually embraced a more figurative language—yet he never abandoned experimentation. His paintings are tactile, atmospheric, and emotionally charged. Through bold structure and subtle nuance, Riduan transforms everyday urban and natural scenes into powerful visual meditations on movement, solitude, and the evolving spirit of contemporary life.
